IT'S TIME TO CHANGE YOUR GASKETS, PLEASE BRING YOUR DOOR IN FOR SERVICE. Over 50% of the broken glass in woodstoves we see is from the gaskets never being replaced.
About Neoceram™ Neoceram™ is commonly referred to as wood stove glass but it is actually a transparent ceramic. Neoceram™ is 3/16" or 5mm thick. It is the ideal solution for many wood stoves and fireplaces.
Strength and Durability Neoceram™ can take the heat! Continuous temperatures up to 1470°F (700°C) can be withstood because this ceramic has an extremely low expansion with no fear of destruction from high heat or temperature variation (water or snow on hot glass). Whether burning gas or wood, today’s high efficiency stoves and fireplaces can produce intense heat. While ordinary tempered glass withstands temperatures up to approximately 250° C (500°F), higher levels of heat may cause it to crack and shatter or worse explode out of your fireplace. For builders and home owners, that can mean costly replacements - or worse!
Wood Stove Glass and Gasket Installation
When replacing your wood stove glass it is very important that the glass gasket is also replaced. This is not only to seal the glass but also to protect your glass. It is also very important that the gasket around your glass is replaced every one to two years.
The gasket for around wood stove glass is a flat gasket that wraps around the edge of the glass to protect it from any metal that may touch it. It is a very common mistake to put a round gasket that is found in many local hardware stores under the glass. This will only cause breakage or pressure cracks of your glass.
We carry two types of flat gasket for wood stove glass, as well as seven sizes of round door gaskets. The flat gasket has a tape for easy installation on the glass, and the door gasket requires gasket cement of high heat silicone, both of which we carry.
We recommend bringing the door right to us. We have been servicing woodstove doors for twenty years.
We also carry woodstove glass cleaner, gas fireplace cleaner, and firestarter for pellet stoves.
